Well....what comes next??

  1. Upon the presidents signature on this historically bad legislation the state of florida along with 11 other states as of roght now will be filing a suit against the United States Congress for passing this unconstitutional piece of legislation. This bill is jammed packed with unfunded mandates that the states frankly can not afford. However, this bill does contain some positive measures, but they are made irreverent becuase of the other 95% of the bill that happens to be radical.

  2. I really don't understand why the issue of health care is such an immense one in this country. Is it the greedy insurers who charge ridiculous amounts for health insurance that has people going nuts? Why is it such an issue to go to the hospital when needed and such..?

  3. This healthcare bill has always been an interim step towards socialized medicine. Make no bones about it. I agree that it is unconstitutional to have public healthcare, and also, the legislation is blind to the real-world effect that this bill will have. It's just like when the FAA tried to help the consumer by levying huge fines on airlines that have planes on the tarmac for excess of three hours. Undoubtedly, the FAA had good intentions, but this policy hurts the consumer because now airlines will cancel flights that stay on the tarmac for too long. An attempt to make the situation better worsens the predicament of the average American. Same thing here. These policies are well-intentioned, but they will do nothing but drive up the price of healthcare by forcing insurers to raise their premiums.

  4. Daniela, do you really think insurers and bankers, and loaners in general are out to get you? Don't buy into Ms. Meachum's socialist propaganda; they do what they have to do as dictated by government regulations and business principles.

  5. He signs it, I'm assuming.

And then companies attempt to beat it out, until they fail, and then the government health care reigns supreme.

Which was the point of it.

  6. The next step is for President Obama to sign it. After that have many people join; ending with the government having to supply healthcare for everyone, and longer waiting periods even if it is an emergency.

  7. President Obama sings it.
    It is put into action.
    People complain about it.

  8. Exactly what Erika said. Obama signs it, and then the companies will try to complain and beat it out, because it will cause them harm. Companies will have to pay more in taxes to pay this bill off, so smaller businesses will hurt. They will have to pay more in premiums with more people to cover as well and they may go under because of the extra money they are forced to pay. Insurance companies will probably charge more for premiums. Government health care may very well take over, smaller businesses will probably hurt because they are forced to pay more, but EVERYONE will have the opportunity to get health care, which is necessary.

  9. Obama is going to be famous for two things...the health care bill and for being the first African American president. Waste of time...

  10. As in all the comments before...
The President is going to sign it. It is know to the public what is going to happen. The company tries to beat it out. The people that like it will try to beat out the company, the people that don't will complain. It turns into a "war" where the Government win. I think that sums it up kind of nice? But I do however have to agree with Daniela, I don't see why this one topic has to be such a big deal in this country. I mean I do believe that it is the greedy insurers who charge ridiculous amounts for health insurance that has people going nuts. But that's just MY opinion, so I guess I am buying into the Socialist Propaganda, as Moshe would say.

  11. Soo yeah
Obama supplies his John Hancock... and then the Bill is official and put into effect and hooray goes America. And then the same old complaints and protests and bashing occurs as with almost every national issue and we live happily ever after.

  12. Yeah, it's doubtful that Obama won't sign it, considering this is something he did say he'd do, and it would be his first act of "change" he's been promising for so long.
And the insurance market is going to go haywire. People aren't going to be able to afford insurance, and will have to pay penalties, and the quality of care will surely fall with the mandates being placed on states. We're in for it now.

Oh, and that complaining thing that was mentioned, that was a give-in; it's been going on since before Obama was president.

  14. Personally, I do not at all see the rationality in the timing of introducing this bill to be passed. Not that I don't believe nationalized health care could possibly benefit the welfare of the American people, but I simply don't see the rationale in introducing nationalized health care- undoubtedly an expensive transaction- at such an economically unstable time in the U.S.

Ultimately, I think the silver lining here isn't as easily visible as everyone thought it might have been; in fact it is arguable that the situation is entirely black- no silver lining it at all! I think this bill isn't going to be that great for the U.S. economy, and the benefit to the public welfare only ephemeral.

Honestly, what I think America needs is a re-education, a turn around moral philosophy and work ethic. America is falling behind in its standards of education, and consequently, the students it produces are seldom as wise as you might think. Certainly this is nothing that can be enforced by the government, for the government has no direct reign over the regulation of public disposition, but I think it will take some, powerful, influential, dedicated, and willing social activists and leaders to reform the idea of what it means to be an American. Americans have to become aware of what they lack; we must gain the metacognant ability to see our flaws, and have the motivation and willingness to fix them. It's a far-fetched hope, but it is a reality our nation desperately need.
