Scott's expansion of Medicaid in Florida will now allow more low-income households, and households who earn lower than the poverty level, to access to healthcare, per Obamacare provisions. The government of Florida will now pay the full cost of enrolling newly eligible people for Medicaid, at least for the next three years. This new expansion will provide healthcare to about 1.3 million Floridians, a third of total Floridians who do not currently have access to healthcare. I believe that this expansion will not break the bank, as it has a reasonable price tag at about 4 billion dollars for the next three years, and our state government will gain 66 billion dollars to help fund this. I believe that it is a right to have access to healthcare, and if the taxes my household pays helps those less fortunate than I to get it, then that's great. I believe that this program is worth the opportunity cost needed to have it instated (an opportunity cost which I have found to be spending our money on other endeavors, such as fixing the appalling infrastructure of Florida).
ReplyDeleteThis new program opens the door for many people who once could not afford Medicaid and need health insurance, since one-fifth or 3.8 million people had no health insurance. A recent analysis stated that this will now be able to provide healthcare to about 1.3 million people. The spending needed until 2022 would be about $5.4 billion and in return Florida would gain $66.1 billion from the government to cover expenses. I believe it will improve human conditions because more people will be able to have healthcare. Also, it will not break the bank because over the years Florida will be receiving money to cover the expenses as stated earlier. In the end I believe it is worth the opportunity cost and will help those less fortunate receive the medical help they need. Personally, I would not mind having to pay a bit more in taxes to help others.
ReplyDeleteThis program will provide the expansion of Medicaid to lower income households. Governor Scott said he wants every Floridian to have access to high quality health care they can afford. The costs for health care would be covered from 2014 to 2016 for the new eligible people. About 1.3 million people of Florida would gain health benefits under these circumstances. I believe this program will help our human conditions. I also believe the more money we are using for health, the better our health programs will become. I believe the opportunity cost is worth it because I believe all people are entitled to the right of health care.
ReplyDeleteFlorida's governer Rick Scott's expansion of Medicaid in Florida will allow more low-income households, and households who earn lower than the poverty level, access to healthcare, with the help of Obamacare provisions. About 1.3 million people of Florida would gain health benefits under these circumstances. The spending needed until 2022 would be $5.4 billion and in return Florida would gain $66.1 billion from the government to cover expenses. I believe the opportunity cost of theis new health care plan for FLorida is worth it, because I believe all people are entitled to the right of health care. I also believe that this expansion will not break the bank, as it has a reasonable price tag at about 4 billion dollars for the next three years. I believe it will also improve human conditions because more people will be able to have affordable access to healthcare.
ReplyDeleteThe expansion of Medicaid in Florida will allow many more low-income Floridians to have Health Insurance coverage. These 1.3 million people under the poverty level will now have access to healthcare, which is a very necessary and beneficial thing to everyone. The price tag for this expansion also isn't bad. Florida will only pay $5.4 billion, and the federal government will pay for over $60 billion. In my opinion, this expansion will not break the bank at all, and it will benefit many people. It is a great decision by Rick Scott. All the newly insured people will have a higher standard of living, which affects everyone else in the long run. This expansion of healthcare could lead to a lower crime rate, and possibly more jobs.
ReplyDeleteThis program will provide low income Floridians the opportunity to obtain Health Insurance. So this would drastically help households under the poverty line with health care. This plan would improve the human condition because it is giving families the ability to protect themselves against medical problems and by doing so help their families. everyone should have the chance and right to get health insurance despite how much they make.
ReplyDeleteFlorida's governor Rick Scott is republican but he is finally agreeing with Obama and Medicaid. The expansion of Medicaid it will make many more low-income households and help people get the choice of Health Care. This would help protect people once they retire or get injured and they would need it just in case of medical problems and for parents that want to protect their children's health.
ReplyDeleteThis new program could really help out the poor people who do not have health care. Low income households who do not have health care at the moment are constantly at risk. If something happens, it could be really hard he or she and their family to pay for the medical costs. This can improve peoples health and our goal to better our society. Anything that improves our society is worth any opportunity cost.
ReplyDeleteThis new program will give low income residents of Florida the chance to have health insurance. This would really help households below the poverty line with their health care. It would also improve conditions because it gives families the chance to protect themselves from medical problems. This would help their families. I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to have health care no matter their income.
ReplyDeleteThe new program grants low income Floridians health insurance. This would be extremely beneficial to poverty stricken households that are unable to afford healthcare. It would also improve conditions because it gives families the ability to treat medical conditions. All should be granted the opportunity to have health care, regardless of their income.
ReplyDeleteThe new Medicaid program that Governor Scott just passed in Florida will provide low-income families with Health Insurance. The cost of all of this is not a very high burden on the state government and will actually provide more benefits to the state of Florida in the long-run. Furthermore, the standard of living for many families in Florida will be raised which will, in turn, lead to less crime and more employment which can benefit not only the Florida government but also the Federal Government.
ReplyDeleteThe medicaid expansion will allow health insurance towards the insured citizens under the poverty line. It will definitely help to reduce the 20 percent uninsured rate. Providing proper care for society is a moral responsibility entrusted on all of us and we shouldn't hold back on paying a little extra. However, it seems obvious that Scott is only doing this to benefit himself in the eyes of there public. I dont think cost is a big factor here because they're receiving 60 billion dollars, give or take, from the government.
ReplyDeleteThe Medicaid Expansion will give 1.3 million people, which are under the poverty line, access to health care. It will not break the bank as it has a relatively low cost to maintain. Florida would only have to spend $5.4 billion through 2022 and would gain $66.1 billion from the government to pay for it. It is completely worth it as not only is it a right for people to have access to health care who can not afford it, but also it will help raise the living conditions of Florida overall.

ReplyDeleteThe program will give low income families in Florida health insurance. The policy will not break the bank only costing $5.4 billion until 2022, then receive $66.1 billion. The program will improve living conditions and give people below the poverty line insurance.

ReplyDeleteThis will provide low income families in Florida with health insurance. It will not break the bank, because it'll be low to maintain. The state will spend $5.4 billion up until 2022, but will raise $66.1 billion in revenue. It will help raise living conditions and give people below the poverty line health care.
