Long-Term Care Hospitals Face Little Scrutiny
I can't wait until I need long term care..... All those health care premiums I've paid will finally be worth the money!! How do we fix this?

Long-term care hospitals seems to be costing our government way too much money, and I thiknk we need to cut unescessary expenses wherever we can. Therefore, and sorry about this Ms> Meachum, we either need to drastically reduce the number of long-term care hospitals, or justy eliminate them all together. But since most of them are run by corporations, doing this could prove to be exponentially difficult.
ReplyDeletePeople are paying so much for long-term care, and they're obviously not being treated well at all. I believe to fix this, we need more regulation. The hospitals have to treat their patients better, and actually care. More rules and regulation should hopefully fix this problem.
ReplyDeleteThe Government has no constitutional obligation to regulate long term care hospitals, or provide any funding whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteHealthcare is in serious need of reform, as everyone knows. Long-term hospitals being part of the health care given to people, it needs to be regulated too. I think there should be more restrictions put in place. For example, for a hospital to be in business, they should have to meet basic requirements, and they should get checked out once in a while to make sure they still have enough people on staff and instruments are working, etc. If these hospitals are going to charge so much, it may as well be quality. There needs to be a hospital regulation branch of government, or at least a more effective system of regulation.
ReplyDeleteI believe that long term care should be provided, but I believe that the hospitals that are providing this care should be better. I think that hospitals should have quality control checks, and better staff. Some of these hospitals are understaffed. They then fill the position with someone right out of college who does not know everything, and the hospital does not have to pay as much.
ReplyDeleteWe obviously need to reform our rules and regulations. I think we all need a reality check too and realize that we need to take care of our elders. We need to take better care of them and better staff these hospitals. Maybe also have regular unexpected check ups on these long-term hopsitals.
ReplyDeleteI really don't understand how this would tie into government regulation at all, beyond making sure that people are being treated ethically. Since these hospitals are privately owned, they can be left to their own devices. If someone does not wish to have their family member treated this way, they need to pay for in-home care services instead.
ReplyDeleteWe need to reform healthcare regulations. People pay way too much money for long-term hospitals and they're not receiving the care worth their money. More rules and regulations in healthcare might help fix the problem.
ReplyDeleteLike with traditional hospitals, Medicare should require quality data, and issue a fine if said data is not provided.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with long-term hospitals is that they cost way to much and the employers there don't seem to care, all they want is their paycheck. A way to fix this would be to get rid of "unnecessary cost" so that it can reduce government cost and establish a better employer system, because if the nurses and doctors don't care, then what is the point of the long-term care? We might as well put the long-term patients in a torture chamber.
