I think that Obama should not give preferential treatment to the businesses because the common people need the help more. I know, however, that it is the big businesses that supply jobs and helping them would increase jobs, but I think helping them would also hurt the rest of us. In Obama's perspective, he believes in a mixed capitalist economy, thus I think he does think that big businesses affect the overall economic stability. Big businesses control the supply of jobs. With less help from the government(money), businesses lay people off.
ReplyDeleteYes, Obama should start giving preferential treatment to the businesses to an extent. In the article it says that some of the owners of large businesses have wrote Obama and told him policies that are inhibiting economic growth. Big businesses overall affect the overall economic stability of the U.S in various ways, they provide a large number of jobs due to the fact that most of the large businesses are all over the country, they provide a mass of jobs to people. But it isn't only big businesses that Obama should give treatment to, he should give help to the smaller ones, and the businesses that would actually need the help.
ReplyDeleteObama is in a really tough spot on this. On one hand, these big businesses are a big part of our economy, providing thousands of jobs and many products for export trade. On the other hand, the corruption and greed that has run rampant among these businesses is largely at fault for the economic hardships we see today. The government had already give massive amounts of money in bailouts to big businesses who have run themselves aground. I don't think that we can trust these businesses with any "preferential treatment."
ReplyDeleteThis issue has been debated before Obama even became president. Many people feel that the government should under no circumstances give preferential treatment to large businesses. They feel that most businesses' executives would pocket the bailout money to achieve even more lucrative bonuses. Although this may very well be true, it seems that it might be necessary for Obama to provide this preferential treatment. He believes that big businesses play a vital role in the overall economic stability of the United States. These big businesses are essentially the companies that keep the economy running. Without them, the United States would face a complete economic collapse.
ReplyDeleteFor me, this is an undecided issue. Big businesses provide individuals employment and the opportunity to improve their way of life and they serve as a fundamental segment of the American economy. Yet, they can also grow too powerful, and with limited regulations available, can worsen the overall lives those same people by reducing wage and eliminating benefits.
ReplyDeleteObama should start giving prefrential treatment towards big businesses because they supply the majority of the jobs available to the common people. But he shouldn't just help big businesses he should also aid the smaller businesses because they provide a significant amount of jobs as well and if helped they may become big companies and start supplying more jobs to the economy
ReplyDeleteObama should give preferential treatment to big businesses because since they're the one who are supplying jobs. Unemployment is always the last subject to show any improvement in a recession or depression. Hopefully this unemployment issue would be resolved quickly so people would be able to get jobs, have incomes, and start spending in order to improve the money flow in this economy. Big businesses play a major role in the overall economic stability in the U.S because they are the major job suppliers. Without them, smaller businesses may strive but that would not improve the unemployment problem by much.
ReplyDeleteObama should give preference to small businesses rather than big businesses since they employee "54.4 million people, about 57.3 percent of the private workforce," according to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. Small businesses unlike large corporations support the overall strength of America through keeping manufacturing jobs in America, supporting local economies, and providing secure jobs. Corporations have their place in America and remain an important part of our economy, however they retain to much power and create to many problems.
ReplyDeleteObama should give preferential treatment to big businesses because these corporations are the key to stabilizing our economy. Also, by supporting these large businesses, Obama would be helping the citizens in this country because there could possibly be an increase in the supply of jobs. By supplying jobs, the unemployment rate would thus decrease and our economy will start to stabilize and improve.
ReplyDeleteObama should not give preferential treatment to big businesses. I think that it's more beneficial to directly help the common people than to help the big businesses and let it filter down to the people. If anything, the small business need more help than the big corporations. Obama probably sees big businesses affecting the overall economic stability by employing a lot of people.
ReplyDeleteGiving preferential treatment to big businesses would help wash away Obama's heavy record of being anti-business. It would also help stabilize the economy since large corporations take a major part in the economies standing. It may increase the number of jobs available on a large scale because big businesses tends to need more workers than smaller ones. On the other hand, not giving this preferential treatment to big businesses and instead to smaller businesses may be wiser in the sense that it will without a doubt reach the common man directly. In the past the "trickle down" system has failed tremendously. With economy and job supply such pressing issues Obama needs to weigh his pros and cons.
ReplyDeleteObama should definitely give preferential treatment to big business because in accordance with his belief in a mixed capitalist economy, the big businesses affect everything. It would be crazy for us to ignore the fact that big businesses run our country and we need them back on track in order to have a smooth economy. Big businesses make employment more available and will help push us out of this economic ditch. However, trust will be lost by the common people if Obama goes ahead and helps these big businesses.
ReplyDeleteThe last article on the blog showed us how Obama is anti business, and if he were to want to get rid of that label, he should become more preferential toward big business. Doing this could help raise the employment of people, and would circulate more money in the economy. This would help to stabilize the American economy.
ReplyDeleteI believe Obama should not give preferential treatment to the big businesses. The big businesses can fend for themselves they always do. It's the small businesses that are being trampled and need the help. If the little businesses can be helped then communities will be able to help stabilize the economy of the US.
ReplyDeleteobama should not give preferential treatment to these businesses. look at what has happened to our economy as a result of these preferential treatments. bribes are accepted regularly, cheating and lying runs rampant, and overall we cannot trust these big businesses to do exactly as they say they are going to do, therefor they should not have preferential treatment.
ReplyDeleteObama should not favor big business because of the inefficiency of the investment. Now, recently escaping a depression businesses are in a cutthroat environment. There is little supply and demand is very expensive. Coming out of this depression the economy should be stronger than ever because weaker firms are leaving the business. Any financial aid might hinder this survival of the fittest process. In addition subsidizing big business would be like rewarding a thief. Executives in particular should stop taking for granted their massive salaries and start working. Subsidizing them would be a terrible moral choice and would hurt his approval rating.(not that he will be able to get anything done with the republican majority house and with only 3 seats behind in the senate)
