Florida is the biggest and most volatile state in America. The state has a swing vote. In addition, an electoral vote of 29 this year. Both the Democrats and the Republicans have won in Florida twice, in the last two elections. The Hillsborough County has supported both Obama and Bush. Not all of Florida swings, the Northern part of Florida is usually Republican. The East coast is more liberal and multi- ethic. However, because of Florida's unemployment rate being higher than the nation's, the vote may not be for Obama. However, the state's vote may center around Tampa.
ReplyDeleteThis year, the electoral vote for Florida has risen to 29. On top of that, in the graph provided, Florida is shown to be a very ethnically diverse state. It contains a little bit of everyone.
ReplyDeleteThere are two main regions in Florida that mainly control our votes (Tampa and St Pete). Those regions have been known to shift political allegiances. It is also known that previous presidents have not won without first acquiring them.
The counties toward the middle-south region are agricultural, housing an immense and profitable citrus industry. They tend to vote Republican. South FL’s east coast is more liberal, ethnic, and populous. The last election, Obama won 62% of their vote.
Overall, this election may be most important to the Tampa region, and we can expect the results to be heavily influenced by that area.
Florida, a "swing state", now has an electoral vote of 29. Florida is also a melting pot, in the sense that it is very ethnically diverse. While Florida as a whole is subject to much political change, the Northern regions are generally more conservative, while the Eastern regions are more liberal. Agricultural regions also tend to vote Republican. In the 2008 election Obama won with 62% of the vote, however this election Tampa is an extremely important region. The overall results for this election will be greatly influenced by it.
ReplyDeleteFlorida is the most volatile swing state and has America's biggest electoral vote. The two main regions, Tampa and St. Pete have a large controlof the influence in the outcome of the presidential election. The northern is mostly republican while the south is more liberal and multi ethinc.
ReplyDeleteThis year Florida has undergone a growth in the amount of electoral votes it can cast; increasind to 29. Being that most of the states already have a clear idea on who they are going to support, candidates are focusing on the swing state; that only states that really matter. Since Flodia has the greatest number of electoral votes than any of the swing states, the Romney and Obama campaigns are paying very close attention to the state. Flodia demographics pose an insight on how Floridians tend to lean, in terms of politcians. The two main demographics that the campaigns have dialed in on, are the "grey" vote and the hispanic vote. The growing number of Hispanics in Florida has turned Florida into a more liberal state, as the east coast is home to a heavy concentration of hispanics. This makes hispanics a huge target for both campaigns.
ReplyDeleteFlorida is one of the most important swing states in the election. It now has 29 electoral votes, which can make or break the nominees. Florida is unpredictable when it comes to the presidential election; the past 4 elections were won by 2 republicans and 2 democrats. Also, the eastern coast of Florida is more diverse, and tend to vote for democrats. And the northern and central areas of Florida are primarily republican. The rise in Hispanic population has a large significance on the election as well, and the Hispanics tend to vote democrat in the election.

I feel that Florida is one of the most important if not the most important state in the election and electoral votes to decide who is the President of the United States. It is very important to win Florida because it is so divided as a state based on Republicans and Democrats. Obama just barely won Florida and that basically clinched his re-election. Florida as a state is known as a swing-state which means it could either way for the electoral votes.
ReplyDeletePoliticians usually focus more on getting the votes of swing states because those states can go either way. Florida happens to be one of those states and this year, came out with 29 electoral votes. Since Florida is culturally and ethnically diverse, different parts of the state vote differently. The northern part tends to be more republican while the eastern coast and the south usually votes democratic due to the huge hispanic population in South Florida. The agricultural parts are also republican.
ReplyDeleteFlorida's incredible amount of electoral college votes - 29, makes it a huge state to win, almost imperative to winning the election. Therefore, it becomes important for a candidate to win Florida, especially considering its role as a swing state. With no reliable pattern of red or blue, it is unknown what Florida will vote for, therefore candidates must do their best there. The West coast of FL tends to be less ethnically diverse in contrast to the East, and they tend to vote Republican and Democrat respectively. This ethnic diversity leads to a split in parties in FL.
ReplyDeleteFlorida is such a crucial state and a “rich prize” in the electoral college because it now holds 29 electoral votes. So, it would be a huge deciding factor for any candidate, considering it is a swing state and has the most electoral votes of any of them too. The demographics changing the way Floridians vote are what the Romney and Obama campaigns have called the “grey” vote and the Hispanic vote. Since there is an increasing number of Hispanics, the result has been the change to a more liberal state. With that, the Hispanic vote is crucial for both campaigns in order to win Florida.
ReplyDeleteFlorida is considered a "rich prize" because it currently holds a total of 29 electoral votes, a critical factor in the election process. The northern region of Florida tends to lean more on the conservative (republican) side, while the east and south region are more liberal (democratic). Due to the split in parties among the state of Florida, it is crucial that the candidates do their best in persuading voters into choosing them. The increasing hispanic population is turning Florida into a more Democratic state, but either way, it remains a swing state.
ReplyDeleteThe swing state of Florida has 29 electoral votes this year making it a very important state to win for the 2012 election. Being a very ethnic, diverse state it is subject to much change in which candidate it chooses. Regionally, however, Florida is very consistent in that the North is very conservative and the East tends to be very liberal. The middle-south region is the heart of Florida’s Orange Groves and is very agricultural, it is for this reason that that region tends to vote republican. In the past, Florida’s voting has flip flopped significantly. Two regions that will have a significant control over which way Florida sways are Tampa and St. Petersburg. It can be said that the candidate who wins this state will be put at a large advantage over the other.
ReplyDeleteFlorida is such a rich prize because not only is it such a volatile state, with each party having won twice in the past 4 elections but it now also has 29 electoral votes. The northern part of Florida is mostly republican and the eastern part democratic. It is believed that Tampa and St. Petersburg will control the tide of the votes. Whichever president wins Florida normally has a huge advantage over the other.
