Wyoming House Advances Doomsday Bill - Good Idea?

Due 2 March 2012. Ok, suppose Wyoming DID create its' own currency. How would it be valued?? What is Wyoming going to do with an aircraft carrier?? What do you think??

  1. I am a little concerned about this. The United States does need a back up plan if our country collapses, but I don't think that giving the responsibility of creating a currency and "implement its own military draft" to one state, with a low population, is the right thing to do. If Wyoming were to print its own money, it would be worth nothing. The Wyoming currency has to be accepted across the country and across the world. It won't work. The American dollar is known and even if we are in debt, there will always be an American dollar there. I honestly don't know why politicians believe giving Wyoming the ability to create an army is a good idea. That is a public good! Where does Wyoming even plan on recruiting from? NO ONE LIVES THERE! LOL and would people value the Wyoming army? I don't think so.

This whole idea is bringing us back to when each state worked independently rather then under one national government. So if Wyoming's currency and military works, does that mean each state is to create their own currency and army?

If politicians want a back-up for their country, I think they need to do it on a national level, and not give the responsibility to one state.

  2. I think that if Wyoming were to create their own currency, it wouldn't be valued highly since countries value the USD and not independent state money. If all states were to create their own money, it wouldn't be valued in any country, maybe only within the states itself. Wyoming is probably going to use the air craft carrier to create an army for themselves if the were ever to secede from the U.S. I think that they have a good idea of having a back up plan if the USD was ever to fail, but I think the overall plan won't work.

  3. It is ridiculous for Wyoming to create their own currency. In their perspective, if the US dollar were to fail or in case of some catastrophes, the so-called Wyoming money will be helpful. Not only the American people value US dollar, but people all around the world also value US dollar. Wyoming is part of the United States, so even if our economy did collapse, no one would want to value Wyoming dollar or even use it. To build a standing army as well as the aircraft carrier is a waste of money. The politicians in Wyoming should really think about what they are doing and use the money to benefit their constituents and to improve the economy.

  4. I believe that if Wyoming were to create their own currency, it would not be valued like the US dollar. Wyoming is part of the United States and I think it would be a waste of their time and money to try and create an army and aircraft carrier. They can use their money on better things that will help improve the economy. Their currency will not help anything because no other countries value it, like countries value our dollar now.

  5. Wyoming is basically embarrassing themselves by wanting to create their own currency. The US dollar will always be of higher value that the currency of Wyoming. Also, at state currency would never be nationally recognized thus it would never be truly valuable. The idea of Wyoming building a standing army is nonsensical because the US army is doing just fine at protecting the entire US. There doesn't seem to be a reason why Wyoming would have to fight individually as a state. Wyoming should not go through with this idea because it is frankly stupid. They would be doing something else that would actually make a difference.

  6. Wyoming's currency would never succeed in our nation and is not going to create financial improvements in the state. It would be valued at a very low status as it would not really be used in trade and would not be circulated a lot. The US dollar would still hold higher value, even though it is not worth as much as it used to be. Wyoming's army would be very weak and an aircraft carrier would not be very useful. The likelihood of an attack on Wyoming is very slim. The US army is strong enough to defend the entire nation. I think that Wyoming should let the federal government defend them. There should be a unified currency, as there is right now. Different states should not trade with different types of money.

  7. Let's think about this realistically: Wyoming's currency would have no value. The US dollar is one of the most valued currencies in the entire world - no one would pay attention to Wyoming's own currency. Unless our system breaks down, they're hopeless. Wyoming's air craft carrier is going to sit there and represent the stupidity that flows through their air. Their defense system could not withstand the power of any others and there's a slim chance that they'll ever need to protect just themselves. Wyoming is making a terrible decision and building a terrible reputation for themselves. It's absolutely loony.

  8. The paranoid currency that Wyoming wants to create is totally insane. The only place it would be valued is Wyoming and by people who like collecting novelty items. If Wyoming were to create its own aircraft carrier, and militay following soon after, it would prompt the other states to create their own defense systems as well. This could lead to wars spurring between the states and the country would fall into chaos. But that is just one way of looking at it, I'm sure Wyoming would disagree with my predictions.

  9. I think Wyoming creating its own currency is totally crazy and unreasonable. No other state in the U.S. would value it, since they all have the still functioning U.S. dollar that can buy goods throughout the country. As for the aircraft carrier, that's only going to waste money that could be used to help the entire country get back on a better economic track instead of just represent the insanity that is this state.

  10. So, is Wyoming planning on seceding or something? I mean, what the heck? Really? Is this what is really going on in this country?

As far as creating their own currency, it would be really hard to keep a stable exchange rate considering that all the states around Wyoming will be using the US dollar, and most likely won't accept Wyoming currency for trade. So, it would basically be a waste of printing and coining materials.

Maybe if Wyoming became its own independent country and had a strong central bank to back up its currency so it could maintain a stable rate with the US dollar..... wait, what the heck, that's still crazy. And why would Wyoming need its own standing army?! What is this?

    This just makes no sense....
